The Internet’s Own Boy The Story of Aaron Swartz Official Trailer #1 (2014) HD

The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz Official Trailer #1 directed by Brian Knappenberger and starring Tim Berners-Lee, Cory Doctorow, Peter Eckersley.

Available In Theaters and On Demand on June 27
The Internet’s Own Boy follows the story of programming prodigy and information activist Aaron Swartz. From Swartz’s help in the development of the basic internet protocol RSS to his co-founding of Reddit, his fingerprints are all over the internet. But it was Swartz’s groundbreaking work in social justice and political organizing combined with his aggressive approach to information access that ensnared him in a two-year legal nightmare. It was a battle that ended with the taking of his own life at the age of 26. Aaron’s story touched a nerve with people far beyond the online communities in which he was a celebrity. This film is a personal story about what we lose when we are tone deaf about technology and its relationship to our civil liberties.

Hackers recreate the NSA Spying Kit using junkyard items.

Mr. Edward Snowden revealed last year the NSA’s Advanced Network Technology catalog, a list of the tools provided by the NSA to its agents for spying purposes. Now some hackers and security experts have used this leaked information to make similar tools using available junkyard electronics.

The leaked catalog was examined by Michael Ossmann and his team. And they found out that many of the items were very easy to recreate at a fairly low price. He has already build a Software-Defined-Radio (SDR) which can record and transmit data from a target PC using a Kickstarter project, and this can be bought for just $300.

Ossmann has also recreated two more of NSA’s gadgets which function similar to the Ragemaster and Surlyspawn keystroke logger using just few transistors and pair of wires as an antenna. These devices are not as small as the NSA’s hardware but are at a fairly cheap cost.

Ossmann said, “Our goal isn’t to help hackers conduct their own spying operations, nor to make it easier for the government to get low-cost surveillance hardware. the goal of this project is to help the security industry understand the range of threats it should be protecting against.”

He has also set up a website named NSA Playset. Here he has given details on how they have reverse-engineered some of NSA’s hardware at a fairly cheap cost.

Fukushima – If you haven’t watched this yet, do it.

If you haven’t watched this yet, do it. Then share it. #Fukushima

Some 39 months after the multiple explosions at Fukushima, thyroid cancer rates among nearby children have skyrocketed to more than forty times (40x) normal.

More than 48 percent of some 375,000 young people—nearly 200,000 kids—tested by the Fukushima Medical University near the smoldering reactors nowsuffer from pre-cancerous thyroid abnormalities, primarily nodules and cysts. The rate is accelerating.

More than 120 childhood cancers have been indicated where just three would be expected, says Joseph Mangano, executive director of the Radiation and Public Health Project

The nuclear industry and its apologists continue to deny this public health tragedy. Some have actually asserted that “not one person” has been affected by Fukushima’s massive radiation releases, which for some isotopes exceed Hiroshima by a factor of nearly 30.” Read more here''
