Peter Sunde: The Pirate Bay down, forever?
Via Peter Sunde aka brokep:
The Pirate Bay down, forever?
December 9th, 2014
"News just reached me that The Pirate Bay has been raided, again. That happened over 8 years ago last time. That time, a lot of people went out to protest and rally in the streets. Today few seem to care. And I’m one of them.
Why, you might ask? Well. For multiple reasons. But most of all, I’ve not been a fan of what TPB has become.
TPB has become an institution that people just expected to be there. Noone willing to take the technology further. The site was ugly, full of bugs, old code and old design. It never changed except for one thing – the ads. More and more ads was filling the site, and somehow when it felt unimaginable to make these ads more distasteful they somehow ended up even worse.
The original deal with TPB was to close it down on it’s tenth birthday. Instead, on that birthday, there was a party in it’s “honour” in Stockholm. It was sponsored by some sexist company that sent young girls, dressed in almost no clothes, to hand out freebies to potential customers. There was a ticket price to get in, automatically excluding people with no money. The party had a set line-up with artists, scenes and so on, instead of just asking the people coming to bring the content. Everything went against the ideals that I worked for during my time as part of TPB.
The past years there was no soul left in TPB. The original team handed it over to, well, less soul-ish people to say the least. From the outside I felt that noone had any interest in helping the community if it didn’t eventually pay out in cash. The attention for new artists (the promo bay) felt more like something TPB had to do in order to keep it’s street cred. The street cred I personally tried to destroy when being part of TPB, multiple times, in order to make sure that people stopped idolizing TPB the way they did. Mostly it didn’t work though.
As a big fan of the KLF I once learned that it’s great to burn great things up. At least then you can quit while you’re on top. I think I left TPB just a little bit after that top, and not when it’s as shitty as it was when it was closed today. It feels good that it might have closed down forever, just a real shame the way it did that. A planned retirement would have given the community time and a way to kick off something new, something better, something faster, something more reliable and with no chance of corrupting itself. Something that had a soul and could retain it.
But from the immense void that will now fill up the fiber cables all over the world, I’m pretty sure the next thing will pan out. And hopefully it has no ads for porn or viagra. There’s already other services for that."

The Million Mask March 2014 – Largest World Protest by the Most Influential Group in the World
The Mission: 7 billion people to 1,400 billionaires is 5,000,000 to 1
What is The ‘Million Mask March’?
Last year thousands of people worldwide joined Million Mask March rallies organized by the amorphous Anonymous movement. Rallies, both peaceful and confrontational, protested austerity, surveillance, corporate greed and corrupt governments.
In a mass demonstration of people power, crowds in 450 cities around the world filled the streets wearing Guy Fawkes masks. “The corrupt fear us. The honest support us. The heroic join us” – under this motto protesters united in a global mass-march to deliver various messages.
From Sydney to Los Angeles, from Johannesburg to London – thousands came forward to make their voices heard. Among key ideas which virtually connected all different protests were anti-capitalist idealism and the rejection of NSA surveillance. Some rallies had a sense of carnival, where whole families with kids marched in protest, while other gatherings – like in London and Washington – turned more intense, with people not hiding their rage.
You Want To Participate This Year In The Million Mask March 2014 with thousands of others all around the world?

Citizenfour Official Trailer (2014) – Edward Snowden Documentary HD
CITIZENFOUR is the never before seen, utterly riveting first-person look at how director Laura Poitras and journalist Glenn Greenwald first met with whistleblower Edward Snowden in Hong Kong where he gave them documents showing widespread abuses of power by the National Security Administration. It is an unprecedented fly-on-the-wall account of one of the most groundbreaking moments in recent history.
In January 2013, Poitras (recipient of the 2012 MacArthur Genius Fellowship and co-recipient of the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service) was several years into making a film about surveillance in the post-9/11 era when she started receiving encrypted e-mails from someone identifying himself as ”citizen four,” who was ready to blow the whistle on the massive covert surveillance programs run by the NSA and other intelligence agencies. In June 2013, she and Greenwald flew to Hong Kong for the first of many meetings with the man who turned out to be Snowden. She brought her camera with her. The film that resulted from this series of tense encounters is absolutely sui generis in the history of cinema: a 100% real-life thriller unfolding minute by minute before our eyes.

How The Pirate Bay Servers Became Secure To Avoid Police Raids and Detection
With millions of unique visitors every day, The Pirate Bay has a well-deserved place within the top 100 most visited websites on the web. The BitTorrent site has powered on through years of persecution from authorities around the globe, evading shut down requests and aggressive threats, and bouncing back from police raids and prison sentences.
Created in 2003, the torrent site successfully avoided authorities until 2006. It was then the U.S. and Swedish Governments’ work with Hollywood film association MPAA led to a raid. Servers and piles of equipment were seized and three were questioned by police, although they were later released.
In 2009, the website’s luck eventually ran out. Four individuals were found guilty of breaching copyright law in Sweden, including co-founder Peter Sunde, who has maintained his belief that file-sharing for personal use should be legal. After a moderately successful appeal their prison sentences ranged between four and ten months, with a hefty $4.8 million fine. Remarkably, though, the content exchange site remained live through all of this.
11 years since its creation, the Pirate Bay is still going strong. Despite occasional downtime, the website has bounced between .org and country code top-level domains such as .sx (Sint Maarten), .pe (Peru), .gy (Guyana), .gl (Greenland) and .se (Sweden), and also hopped between multiple hosts.
Countries and ISPs have blocked access to the Bay across the globe, but even that hasn’t deterred its millions of regular users. It has become common knowledge that these restrictions can be easily circumvented by VPNs and mirror and proxy sites.
Last month, it was revealed how the elusive Pirate Bay has managed to avoid detection in recent years. It’s all down to a monumental change to cloud hosting, using numerous providers around the world. As traffic goes through a load balancer, none of the hosts know that it’s The Pirate Bay using their services, keeping IP addresses safe.
The Pirate Bay currently has 21 virtual machines (VMs); a form of virtual hardware used to run the operating system remotely. Eight of these are used to serve web pages, six to handle search queries and two to run the database. The others are used for the proxy site, torrent storage, the controller, load balancing and statistics. If the website’s cloud servers are closed by police, the VMs can be moved quickly and relatively easily.
While other torrent websites have succumbed to their setbacks, The Pirate Bay is still standing. Its ability to shift shape, combined with a striking determination, has achieved a victory for file-sharing for what looks like many years to come.

Snowden Reveals U.S. Government Plans to Spy for Corporations, Despite Telling the Public Otherwise
The NSA have once again proved hypocritical. Despite a spokesman writing to The Washington Post last August claiming “The department does ***not*** engage in economic espionage in any domain, including cyber”, top secret plans have proposed otherwise.
American lawyer and journalist Glenn Greenwald has released a 2009 memo that clearly defined “technology acquisition by any means” to give American corporations an advantage in global markets. The report was provided by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowdon.
It has already been revealed that Brazilian oil giant Petrobas, the International Monetary Fund and World Bank and international banking systems were all spied on, amongst many others. Even the EU antitrust commissioner investigating Google, Microsoft and Intel was targeted.
In response to the Petrobas revelations, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper admitted collecting “information about economic and financial matters”, but categorically denied more morally questionable purposes. He said: “What we do not do…is use our foreign intelligence capabilities to steal the trade secrets of foreign companies on behalf of –or give intelligence we collect to- U.S. companies to enhance their international competitiveness or increase their bottom line”.
The report, however, shows exactly plans to do just that. It focused on the possibility if “the United States’ technological and innovative edge slips”, particularly “that the technological capacity of foreign multinational corporations could outstrip that of U.S. corporations”. Energy, medicine, information technology and nanotechnology were all listed as crucial areas where this could happen.
In this case, the report recommended “a multi-pronged, systematic effort to gather open source and proprietary information through overt means, clandestine penetration (through physical and cyber means), and counterintelligence”. Notably, the memo discussed “cyber operations” to penetrate “covert centers of innovation”.
While some may even believe the NSA should have the right to protect the U.S’s financial position globally, the hypocrisy of the situation cannot be ignored. In May, five Chinese government employees were indicted for spying on U.S. companies. Attorney General Eric Holder said this was done “for no reason other than to advantage state-owned companies and other interests in China”, and “this is a tactic that the U.S. government categorically denounces”.
The fascinating 2009 memo also contemplated scenarios the U.S. intelligence community felt they may face in 2025. These included a “China/Russia/India/Iran centred bloc (that) challenges U.S. supremacy”, and even a world where “identity-based groups supplant nation-states”.

Behind the Mask of Anonymous
I’m not here to give you a history lesson. There are many great sources from which you can learn the history of Anonymous. I highly recommend the documentary, We Are Legion – The Story of Hactivists, which is readily available. I’m here today because I feel there is a great misconception about what Anonymous truly is. It’s amazing how often I hear about Anonymous out in the world, whether in public or at work or even in the news. Despite all the things that Anonymous does and the varied amounts of activities and people involved, Anonymous is continuously referred to as a hacker group. Nothing could be further from the truth. It can be difficult to grasp what Anonymous is. Of course hacking is what gained the attention of the world, and remains a powerful tool in Anonymous’ arsenal, but it is just that, a tool. While Anonymous got its start in mischief and hacking, it has grown into something far beyond that. Anonymous, much like many other movements, started with humble beginnings, but has evolved into a powerful machine that has drawn the ire of leaders worldwide.
Movements may begin with somewhat abstract philosophies. Over time, as these philosophies congeal, the movement begins to solidify around them. Definitive goals and stances are established. Individuals see the direction the movement is going and choose to get involved. As the process evolves, so does the need for organization. Anonymous, while a movement which has no leaders, no membership and no hierarchy, has evolved pockets of leadership and organization. Just the fact that you’re reading this article on an Anonymous homepage tells you that there has to be some form of organization and leadership. Who do I send these articles to every week? Beats me. The who is irrelevant. Who am I? That doesn’t even matter. All that matters is the message. The Anonymous message is clear and simple.
Citizens of nations around the world, we are Anonymous. This is a message from us, from the resistance, the last line of defense. We have been watching the world’s events unfold around you, and truth be told, we are highly displeased. The monstrosities carried out by governments worldwide on a daily basis have grown far too old and we are here to bring these corrupted acts to justice. If you are tired of watching the world, our only home, be ripped to shreds for the illusion of riches based on paper with false value placed upon it, if you are afraid of your government or afraid to wake up in the morning to a war-torn city, whether you’re afraid of your life being lost because you have been tossed into pointless wars, fighting for someone you’ll never meet, or who will never care about you, but the money he takes because of you, then you, my friend, are part of the resistance. We are here to ask the public to join our crusade. Inform. If you are hearing this broadcast, if you’re watching this transmission, if you are reading our words and letters, then you, my friend, are Anonymous. Part of an ever growing legion that will never perish. Part of a collective that relies in unison. This message goes directly to the people that are aware of our corrupted, an unwilling society, as well as to the people that are not aware but wishing to be. Wishing for something more in life besides money and a job. Furthermore, we will never be destroyed. We, as in you and us. We, as in everything and everyone. We as an idea. Ideas cannot be arrested, killed, or broken. It cannot be interfered nor can it be stopped. Ideas, like courage, is contagious. Ideas cannot be divided. The idea is in the mind. You cannot throw it away in the trash. You cannot erase it, nor can you forget it. We are Anonymous and we are an idea to be reckoned with. We are an idea that will never halt or stand idly by while our governments commit vile acts against the people they claim to serve and protect so very highly. If you’re tired of your government and it’s broken system, if you are tired of people not willing to care for our world, our rights, our society and its future generations, then join us. Join the resistance. What have you done so far in life except become like the other 7 billion people who are going through the same process. We know this is why you seek us. Both us and yourself knew the moment you clicked this video (or read these words), that your time and moment has came. Because you, like most of the people around you, want change for the better. You want compassion. You want care. You want rights and an open society that makes positive impact without government interruption. You want less value on human possession and more value on human life. We know this is why you seek to become Anonymous. Yet most people are worried. Worried that they won’t succeed in life. Worried that they won’t have enough money to feed their families. Worried about their future. Worried that they won’t have enough money to pay the rent. Worried that someday they will become something low, while others expected something high from them. Worried about their job and their appearance. Worried about death. You want something more to life than to be born, grown up, make money, retire, and die like the millions of people inhabiting this globe and all of it for nothing. That is why we are here. That is why the resistance has came. We are not saviors. We are concerned citizens. Formed, built and molded upon from an idea that purifies itself with freedom and justice. We were here since the start. Since the beginning of you. Since the birth of everyone and everything. We are fighting for your rights. We are fighting for you and you only. We speak as one. For we wish for no fame or profit but sincerity and equality. Yet we are not just one single person group or community who call ourselves Anonymous. We are not just hackers like the media says and has corrupted you with. We are you. We are your neighbors. We are your fathers and your mothers. We are your sons and your daughters. We are your aunts and we are your Uncles, your sisters and your brothers. We are the poor unemployed man who is looking for his purpose in life and the food to place on this family’s table, as well as the lawyer who fights for the accused to the court of law and the teacher who teaches the children, and the person who delivers your mail, the students in your school, the workers your company. We are the person near you. We are the person walking with you. The person in the car you are seeing right now. We are your lover and enemy. We are them and they are us. This was a message from Anonymous, the final resistance. This was a call of justice. We are Anonymous. We are the resistance. We are legion. We are an idea. We do not forgive. We do not forget. United as one. Divided by zero. Expect us.

Finally Peace in GAZA
A long term cease fire has been agreed between the Israel and Palestine in Gaza after 50 dreadful days of war, almost 7 weeks of fighting, killing more than 2200 Palestinians and injuring more than 11000 lives.
The numbers of civilians displaced in GAZA were 100,000 plus as per UN, but the Palestine Centre for Human Rights reported that more than 540,000 people were displaced from their homes in GAZA.
Israel and Palestine have agreed to the long term cease fire sponsored by the Egyptians which came into effect at 16:00 GMT Cairo time.
This is what the President of Palestine had to say:
“We have responded to the Egyptian proposal for a complete and comprehensive cease-fire, which starts at 19:00 Cairo time, there will be a complete stop in fighting.”
Reconstruction of GAZA
As per few media reports Gaza will host a new sea port, Airport and will get assistance in development of the country. The Israelis ease the blockade on Gaza including assistance humanitarian aids and materials of reconstruction.
Israel also accepted to open border crossings’ as well as to increase the fishing coast line of Gaza from 3 to 6 nautical miles in the Mediterranean.
The foreign minister of Egypt made following statement:
“The two sides will abide by the cease-fire without a The two sides will abide by the cease-fire without a time limit. The deal includes as well the continuation of indirect talks between the two sides here in Egypt to tackle other areas of mutual interest and concerns.”
Both countries will return to Cairo after a month to discuss about the new projects as well as peace related matters.
Celebration of Victory in Gaza
Since the ceasefire news spread, HAMAS invited tens of thousands of Gazan’s to march on the streets, sing patriotic and victory songs.
Even though this ceasefire was the same like after the war in Israel back in 2012, people still celebrated this all over Gaza.
Gaza was filled with people on the streets, religious prayers from the mosques, people dancing after Sami Abu Zahri, Hamas spokesman said during the conference.
“We are here today to declare the victory of the resistance, the victory of Gaza, with the help of God, and the steadfastness of our people and the noble resistance; we achieved some of our instantaneous demands out of this battle. We become closer to Jerusalem and our Palestinian lands.“
And here is what one of the Citizen of Gaza had to tell about the celebration:
“We have mixed feelings. We are in pain for the losses but we are also proud we fought this war alone and we were not broken.”
Disappointment and Criticism in Israel
Government of Benjamin Netanyahu is now facing heavy criticism from different Israeli communities who say that the Israeli failed to stop “Gaza Militants”.
However many Ministers in Netanyahu’s Govt. didn’t like the ceasefire and wanted to continue the war. Even though, Netanyahu didn’t put the ceasefire to a vote in his security Cabinet.
Uzi Landau, Israeli’s Tourism minister, criticised the government during a radio talk by saying “Wanting peace at any Price” which created a buzz among the groups present in the country.
Some Israelis also said that – They didn’t see a bright future, taking into account, number of times Israeli and Palestinians have relapsed in a conflict.
Here’s what few Citizens of Israel had to tell –
Maya Naveh, from the city of Modiin said -
In recent years, we’ve been having these kinds of attacks on average every two years, the area is like dry thistles — you just need to throw a match, and everything is ablaze. So I am not very optimistic about the future.
A Top Israeli officer with a condition of anonymity said –
In the end, Israel had two alternatives: either to occupy Gaza and destroy Hamas or to go to a ceasefire, once we decided not to occupy Gaza, we pushed for the same conditions that led to the end of hostilities in 2012.
Mark Regev, Israeli Govt. spokesperson said –
We hope that this time, the ceasefire will stick, I think now, as the dust will begin to clear, many people will be asking: Why is it that today Hamas accepted the very same Egyptian framework that it rejected a month ago? Ultimately, so much bloodshed could have been avoided.
Israel also claimed that the tunnels used by the HAMAS for import-export of weapons used to attack Israeli civilians, was destroyed by its army operations.
As per the Israeli Military, Israel launched 5000 air strikes on GAZA , while resistance in GAZA, they fired almost 4000 rockets as well as mortars with the help of HAMAS as well.
The UN reports also shows us that 70% of those who were killed were Palestinian civilians, 67 Israelis, where 64 of them were soldiers, have also been killed during these 50 days.

Anonymous Hacked Ferguson Police Servers and Launched a DDOS Attack
Last Thursday, anonymous performed a DDoS attack on Ferguson servers. The attack was in reaction to the murder of 18 year old, Michael Brown, an African American teenager who was killed unjustly by white policemen. Law enforcement officials said recently that the FBI has taken an immense interest in the investigation of hacking attempts directed at the personal computers and online accounts of police officers who are part of the department responsible for the murder.
CNN and other mainstream media outlets, in affiliation with three policeman, who’s names are undisclosed, have reported the police as victims of a ‘cyber attack’, suggesting that anonymous is to blame for the violent demonstrations that took place in Ferguson, avoiding the clear fact that the PD of Ferguson are responsible, and a reaction like this is to be expected in result to the killing of an innocent person. This is of no surprise that corporately funded news outlets would be hesitant to speak negatively of the police.
In reality, despite the propaganda that the 1% will spew forth, it is organizations like Anonymous that are fighting for freedom, unrestricted by the fascist regulations of a fear-mongering governing body, we can fight for peace using whatever means possible.

The Worldview 3 Satellite – The Eye Watching Us In The Sky
The uncontrolled effect of technology and internet are there to keep reminding us of the cons of too much openness on the world. Even though programs to protect internet users’ privacy are various, very soon even such programs will be of no use. This is because soon the Worldview3 satellite will be up there in the sky launching from California’s Vandenberg Air Force Base atop an Atlas 5 rocket.
Google with the approval of the US government has made this satellite powerful enough to capture our faces with a resolution of 25 cm which was not allowed legally before unless it is for a military satellite. This fierce satellite has been developed by Digital Globe which is a US number one suppliers for high-resolution earth imagery and online mapping that made it easy now to capture our faces from high above regardless of clouds or snow or any weather condition. Having the short-wave infrared sensors equipped by Ball Aerospace-developed CAVIS instrument (i.e. against Clouds, Aerosol, water Vapor, Ice, and Snow) and 1.1 meter aperture telescope, it can take up to 680,000 square kilometers a day.
The critical, but easy to answer, question here is: who can access Worldview 3?
The answer is the regular clients of Digital Globe represented by: Google, Microsoft, NASA, and the US federal agencies which are the main and only winners of Worldview 3 as they will be able to spy freely on us without us having any single right to protect ourselves especially if the government restrictions continue to be even more relaxed to reach 10 cm per pixel, for instance.
This will definitely open the door for other giants in the field like google who is planning to launch its satellite by 2018 that has the ability to capture the whole planet three times a day with only one meter distance resolution and a 90 second video at 30 frames per second.
This is not an illusion or a far dream, google has already started launching two if its rockets on a Russian rocket.

The Internet Blackout in Syria – The Real Story
Before ensuing about the story, lets first look back two years and figure out what exactly went wrong when Syria became totally blacked out – a sudden disengage from the rest of the world, which resulted in a 3 day Internet blackout in 2012. Well now, the question was! Was it the Syrian Government behind this blackout?
The dim-out took place exactly during the period of intense and profound ongoing civil wars in Syria. So, as it is supposed, it was assumed that it was the fault of the Syrian government. But, the Syrian Minister stood his ground and made it clear that the government had not disabled the internet, instead the outage was caused by the cable cut by the terrorists to emphasize their existence. Although, when investigated it didn’t seem likely to be a terrorist’s work.
And so, the question came up again on who exactly was the reason for this Syrian Internet Blackout? Well, the answer to that was NSA. The very agency responsible for number of other major happenings.
National Security Agency (NSA) – the agency powered with the strength of God, had ruled over the confidentiality and privacy of the entire world from countries to personages. This organization had the access to read anyone’s data, infringe into large fibre networks, and can narrow out anyone, at any place and at any time.
SECRET BEHIND SYRIA’s 2012 INTERNET BLACKOUT
The latest revelation from the global reconnaissance whistle-blower Edward Snowden removed the mask from yet another Agency’s secret- a 2012 incident that took Syria’s internet status from “Online” to “Offline” was caused by the NSA was nothing but a blunder.
Written by: Annon
In an interview with esteemed journalist James Bamford from Wired magazine published today, Snowden stated that their elite hacking unit in the NSA, very well known as Tailored Access Operations(TAO), inadvertently took most of Syria of the Internet World Map, while make an attempt to insinuate the country’s traffic.
WHAT IF NSA SUCCESSFUL
The TAO unit had supposedly been making an effort to mount a malware by exploiting a liability in the router of the main Syrian ISP that would have allowed the agency to readdress the traffic from the central router to the system tapped by NSA’s turmoil packet capture system and the Xkeyscore packet processing system.
THAT Oops! MOMENT
Instead, the renowned TAO hackers successfully executed it, but to their dismay the plan backfired, as the unit accidently rendered the router, the very equipment it was trying to tap, causing the Syrian Internet to go under the sea. Snowden describes that instant as an “oh shit” moment at the TAO centre, where the NSA feared the moment when the Syrian Government would realize what they had done.
The incident proved to be really ironic, where the other parts of the American government was trying to keep Syria Connected, the TAO was trying to revert the damage done by them and cover their tracks, to no avail.
“Fortunately for the NSA, the Syrians were apparently more focused on restoring the nation’s Internet than on tracking down the cause of the outage,” Bamford inked. Snowden told him that someone joked, “If we get caught, we can always point the finger at Israel”.
It had been largely misunderstood to that the dim-out was caused by one of the opposing parties within Syria, be it the government itself or its rebels. This thought occurred to them since, there have been numerous occasions rooting to similar outages. While the Syrian government stood by its ground blaming the “Terrorists” for the outage caused.
This recent Snowden’s confession pronounces a humiliating part of US intelligence agency, but at the same time, the disclosure also made the list of perpetrators that people will consider, as such incidents are prone to occur there.

Anonymous takes down Israeli Secret Service (Mossad) Website
Anonymous has already targeted multiple Israeli organizations as a part of the campaign “Operation Save Gaza” to stop the massacre in Gaza. They have now taken down the official website of the Israeli Intelligence agency, Mossad, against the Israel military incursion in Gaza. Twitter profile @AnonymousGlobo
Anonymous took down Mossad’s website is a DDoS attack. The attack is severe as the website was shut down for over 10 hours. They have shut down multiple Israeli government sites after the death of one of the members of Anonymous, Tayeb Abu Shehada. The 22-year-old was killed during a protest in the village of Huwwara in the West Bank by Israeli forces over the weekend.
Anonymous launched the campaign against the Israel government, which coincided with Israel’s Operation Protective Edge on July 7. Since then, Anonymous have taken down thousands of Israel based website including the Israel Defense Ministry and the Tel Aviv Police websites.
“We are calling upon the Anonymous collective, and the elite hacker groups to join our crusade, and to wage cyber war against the state of Israel once more. As a collective ‘Anonymous’ does not hate Israel, it hates that Israel’s government is committing genocide & slaughtering unarmed people in Gaza to obtain more land at the border,” This was the message posted by Anonymous online on the 25th of July. Hundreds of Israel government home pages had been replaced by graphics, slogans, and auto-playing audio files by Anonymous. They further released 170 log-in details which belonged to Israeli officials.
Anonymous launched hundreds of attacks on Israeli sites two years ago, with #OpIsrael targeting Israeli websites during the Israeli Defense Force’s operation ‘Pillar of Defense’ in Gaza. The Israeli Foreign Ministry’s data was completely wiped out and Anonymous was able to leak the data of 5,000 Israeli officials. They also hacked into the Israeli Deputy Premier’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, posting pro-Palestinian messages. A year back, they attacked 10,000 websites, causing approximately $3 billion is damages to Israel.

The Gaza: A Barbaric Disposition
A video has appeared on YouTube and gone viral, showing a civilian shot down by an Israeli sniper, while innocently searching for survivors in a war torn street of rubble. [1]
Yet to be officially verified, it is a convincing amount of footage that has displayed the day-to-day atrocities committed in the Gaza; and be warned, the footage isn’t for the faint hearted. The video, released by the pro-Palestinian International Solidarity Movement (ISM) films a group of international volunteers and Gaza rescue workers searching together for survivors in the Shejeiya neighborhood. A “ceasefire” allowed them to conduct the search after a ferocious Israeli assault on July 8.
What this highlights isn’t one man shot down. Rather, it highlights the elderly lady shot in cold blood, or the mother and child waving a white flag of surrender, killed by an Israeli soldier who served a 45 day jail term, as a consequence. It highlights the innocent civilians – the old, the children, the men protecting their families – gunned down in cold blood.
“That’s the beauty of Gaza, you see a man walking, he doesn’t have to have a weapon and you can shoot him,” Danny Zamir, an IDF soldier, was said by a superior officer when an order to shoot an elderly woman was questioned.
This isn’t the first time atrocities like this have occurred. In 2005, an unarmed 13-year-old Palestinian girl was killed by an Israeli army officer who shot her dead. He later boasted even if she was 3 years old, he would have killed her. He was acquitted of all charges.[2]
Since Israel launched Operation Protective Edge on July 8, more than 4000 have reportedly been wounded with a further 625 Palestinians killed – the majority being civilians. The Gaza Health Ministry also reported that of 56 civilians killed on Monday, a third of these victims were children. [3] [4]

July 10: International Nikola Tesla Day
- The rotating electromagnetic field dynamo (foundation for the alternating-current electrical grid now adopted around the world).
- Basic discoveries in radio, robotics and computer science (all of which have contributed immeasurably to our modern international society).
- Research of non-fuel-based solutions to the world’s energy needs (He spoke out against heedless use of fossil fuels over a century ago, thus providing an inspirational example to generations all over the world, who seek clean and effective solutions to the world’s energy crisis).
In light of Mr. Nikola Tesla’s visionary accomplishments – and our own commitment to implementing alternative means for the production and distribution of energy – we would like to support the idea to name the July 10th as Nikola Tesla Day.

NSA can spy on 98 percent of the world
Despite President Obama’s January speech limiting the scope of National Security Agency surveillance, a new Washington Post article outlines a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court could turn that notion on its head. The ruling allows the NSA to conduct surveillance on 193 countries around the world. Only four countries in the world are excluded from the ruling: Canada, Australia, Great Britain and New Zealand. RT Correspondent Meghan Lopez walks us through the latest revelations.

Teenager builds browser plug-in that allows you to see the politicians’ funders
Here we go again, with another new useful tool to keep tabs on politicians. It is a
browser plug-in named “Greenhouse” and it lets users easily access information on
where our public servants get their campaign donations from.
Greenhouse gives a list of the top 10 industries from which a politician receives money. Besides that, it also highlights what percentage of a politician’s funds come from presumably grassroots supporters, those who make donations of 200 dollars or less. The software launched in early June and it can already be used for browsers Safari, Google Chrome and Firefox.
The creator of Greenhouse is a 16-year-old self-taught programmer named Nicholas Rubin. He explains on his website that “even though I am only 16 years old, not quite old enough to vote, I am old enough to know that our political system desperately needs fixing. I hope that this tool is one step in that direction.” Rubin says he got the name of his plug-in from a desire for transparency, like the glass walls of a greenhouse. The 16- year-old boy gives some insight into his own political philosophy and mission:
“It is my hope that providing increased transparency around the amount and source of funding of our elected representatives may play a small role in educating citizensand promoting change. If you use the extension when reading about a Congressional vote on energy policy, for example, maybe you’ll discover that a sponsor of a bill has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the oil and gas industry. Or maybe you’ll learn that the top donors to a member of Congress who opposes tort reform are lawyers and law firms. I use data from the last full election cycle (2012) and plan to update it as more relevant data becomes available. Special thanks to OpenSecrets.org for providing access to that data.
The motto of Greenhouse is: “Some are red. Some are blue. All are green.” What it signifies is that the influence of money on our government isn’t a partisan issue. Whether Democrat or
Republican, we should all want a political system that is independent of the influence of big money and not dependent on endless cycles of fundraising from special interests. The United States of America was founded to serve individuals, not big interests or big industries. Yet every year we seem to move farther and farther away from our Founders’ vision.”
Engadget, a technology blog, gives critique on the fact that Rubin’s data is a few years old. He replied that “the information in the popup is from the last full election cycle (ending in 2012) because it is the most complete data available.” Rubin gets his information from the Center for Responsive Politics Open Secrets website, which tracks lobbying and campaign contributions, and “plan[s] to update the data in the popup itself later in this election cycle as 2014 contributions are more complete.”

This is José Mujica, the most ‘modest’ president in the world
A decrepit car: it is the only official property of the new president of the South
American country of Uruguay. José Mujica (75 years old), a former guerrilla, refuses to
just buy a tie.
According to the Constitution of Uruguay, presidents and ministers have to disclose their personal property to counter corruption. The declaration of President Jose Mujica caused a lot of people to be surprised. The man actually has nothing, except for a more than twenty-year-old VW Beetle. Estimated value: Around 1,600 Euros. By way of comparison: his prime minister has disclosed that he has an expensive luxury car, a majestic house in the centre of the capital and around 210,000 Euros on his bank account.
On the other hand, José does not even have a bank account. “My wife and I are a bit of the old school, so we do not have a bank account, but on the other hand: we have no debts.”
Well, how does he get his presidential salary, around 10,000 Euros per month, then? Probably cash. But more impressive is the fact that he donates around 90% of his monthly salary to causes that benefit the poor, and small scale entrepreneurs. This brings the amount he lives on, approximately 600 Euros per month, to that of the average Uruguayans. While that may be modest, he does not feel poor. Mujica believes it is not what one has, but having an endless craving more, that makes one poor.
The reward is according to South American standards very regal. A Belgian prime minister gets about the same reward, while Uruguay has only 3.5 million citizens.
Political common sense
For the citizens of Uruguay is this financial confession of their president not a real surprise. Since he was elected president in March, he still lives with his wife – a senator – in a modest house in a suburb of the capital Montevideo. Furthermore, that house is also property of his wife. He refuses to live in the majestic presidential house, because there he cannot carry out his greatest hobby; gardening.
José also does not care about the safety measures. The man can only be admired with creased shirts and trousers, because he hates costumes. He would not even buy a tie.
The citizens of Uruguay – also named as the Switzerland of South America, because of the relative wealth of the country – admire the president’s modesty. They hope that his political common sense can keep Uruguay prosperous.
Solitary confinement
President Mujica has had a turbulent past. Under the dictatorship, the man joined a guerrilla movement that committed attacks and kidnappings. Once he was arrested, he got six bullets in his body. In total, he was 14 years in prison, including two years in solitary confinement.
The man remains calm under all the excitement about his own personality. “Just tell the world that we are different,” he told a reporter of the French news agency AFP, who was astonished that the president was lunching on his own at an eatery.
